Santa Elena Canyon at the junction of Terlingua Creek and the Rio Grande River in the Big Bend National Park

Rio Aviation Inc. was started by retired Big Bend Ranger Marcos Paredes, and he specializes in offering scenic flights over some of the most spectacular country along the Rio Grande including Big Bend Ranch State Park, Big Bend National Park, and the Reserva Santa Elena. Flights include a birds eye view of the Solitario, some of the canyons of the Rio Grande, and the Dahlquist research site also known as the Devils Playground.
Rio Aviation is based out of Terlingua Texas and operates out of the Big Bend area year round.
Rio Aviation is authorized to conduct scenic flights over the Big Bend and is certified by the FAA as a part 91 Air Tour Operation.
There are many ways to experience this country and we are pleased to offer you the opportunity to see it from this unique perspective.

THE PLANE

“Ol´ Brownie” is a Cessna 205. Known as the “Super Skywagon” it is one of Cessna´s original “heavy haulers” developed for the air taxi industry. This great plane has been modified and improved with the addition of a “STOL” or Short Take Off and Landing kit, reducing the stall and landing speed, and increasing stability and safety significantly. The plane can accomodate up to 4 passengers comfortably and the high wing configuration provides an excellent platform for sightseeing and photography.
